Dubai on a Budget for Indians in 2026 (How to Do It Cheap, With Real Costs)

Dubai does not have to be expensive. Indians can visit comfortably on around ₹5,000 a day plus flights in 2026 by travelling in summer, staying in Deira or Bur Dubai, eating where locals eat and choosing just one or two paid attractions. The city sells luxury hard, but underneath it is a very doable budget trip, especially for Indians with cheap direct flights and a huge, familiar community. Here is exactly how to do Dubai cheap.

A ride across Dubai Creek on a wooden abra costs a single dirham, and it is a highlight.

Go in summer for the cheapest flights and hotels · stay in Deira or Bur Dubai · use the Metro with a Nol card · eat in Karama and Deira · pick one or two paid sights and enjoy the many free ones. See live costs in the GlobeDude Explorer.

Visa and when to go

Indians need a UAE e-visa, quick and easy to arrange online through your airline or hotel. For the cheapest trip, travel in summer, June to August, when flights and hotels drop sharply, everything indoors is heavily air-conditioned, and the crowds thin out. If you can only go in the pleasant winter months of November to March, book flights and rooms well ahead.

Where to stay cheap

Skip the Marina and Downtown five-stars. Deira and Bur Dubai, the older heart of the city, have plenty of clean budget hotels and hostels at a fraction of the price, and they sit right on the Metro and near the souks and cheap food. Find budget hotels in Dubai on Agoda.

Free and cheap things to do

A surprising amount of Dubai’s best is free or nearly free:

Old Dubai for one dirham. Ride a wooden abra across Dubai Creek, wander the gold and spice souks, and explore the coral-walled Al Fahidi historic district.

The Dubai Fountain show, free every evening on the lake outside the Dubai Mall, is one of the city’s great spectacles. Walk the mall and see the aquarium and indoor waterfall for nothing.

Beaches like JBR, Kite Beach and La Mer are free, with the Burj Al Arab as a backdrop, and the Marina Walk is a lovely free evening stroll.

Seasonal parks like Global Village and the Miracle Garden are cheap and huge fun in the cooler months.

Eat like a local

This is where Indians save the most. Deira, Karama and the older neighbourhoods are packed with excellent, cheap Indian, Pakistani, Filipino and Arabic eateries where a filling meal costs a few dirhams, not a few hundred. Grab shawarma, biryani and fresh juice from local spots, and save the fancy brunch for one treat if you want it.

Getting around cheaply

Buy a Nol card and use the driverless Metro, which is clean, cheap and reaches the airport, Downtown, the Marina and the malls. Save taxis for the Palm and Old Dubai, and remember the summer heat makes long daytime walks tough, so plan outdoor time for the evenings.

A realistic budget for Dubai

Per person, per day, on a budget-conscious trip:

Expense Approx per day
Budget hotel or hostel (shared) ₹2,200
Food (local eateries) ₹1,000
Metro and transport ₹500
One attraction or activity ₹1,300
Comfortable budget day ~₹5,000

Return flights from India run about ₹14,000 to ₹24,000, so a 4 to 5 day budget Dubai trip is very achievable. Compare it against your income in the Salary Goes Furthest tool.

Where to splurge, if at all

If you save everywhere else, one or two treats fit a budget trip: the top of the Burj Khalifa at sunset, or a shared desert safari with dinner. Pick a single splurge rather than several, and you keep the trip cheap while still getting a signature Dubai moment. For the full plan, see our 5-day Dubai itinerary.
