GlobeDude helps you make travel and relocation decisions with numbers instead of guesswork. To trust those numbers, you should know where they come from. This page explains exactly how each figure on the site is produced, how often it changes, and what its limits are.
Live currency and exchange rates
Every currency conversion on GlobeDude uses live exchange rates fetched in real time when you load a tool. Nothing is hard-coded. When you see an amount converted into your home currency, it reflects the market rate at that moment, so the “live rates” label in our tools is literal. Banks and cards usually add a margin on top of the market rate, which is why we point to services like Wise that spend close to the real rate.
Cost of living
Cost figures are built from standard cost-of-living indices and expressed relative to your chosen home country, so the numbers always answer the question that matters to you: how far does my money go there compared with home. Estimates assume a comfortable lifestyle for one person, including rent in a mid-range area, food, local transport and everyday spending. They are refreshed periodically, roughly monthly, which is what the “cost and visa data” month stamp in the footer reflects. Treat every cost figure as a well-informed guide for planning, not a precise relocation quote. Real costs vary by city, neighbourhood, season and personal habits.
Visa access
Visa information comes from a maintained global passport dataset covering more than 200 passports. For each home passport and destination pair we show whether entry is visa-free, visa-on-arrival, electronic travel authorisation or a full visa, along with the typical allowed stay where available. Visa rules change frequently and often at short notice, so we treat this as guidance to narrow your options, not a legal determination. Always confirm the current requirements with the destination country’s official immigration or embassy website before you book or travel.
Best time to travel
Best-time suggestions are based on typical seasonal weather patterns for each destination, highlighting the months when conditions are generally most pleasant for visitors. These are long-run seasonal norms rather than a forecast, so a specific year can still bring an unusually wet or hot spell. Use them to plan the rough shape of a trip, then check an actual weather forecast closer to your dates.
Flights, stays and other links
Flight, hotel, eSIM, insurance and money links point to third-party partners. Prices and availability on those sites are set by the partners and update in real time on their platforms. Some of these are affiliate links, which means GlobeDude may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. Safety index
The safety index is a curated score from 0 to 100, where higher means safer, informed by well-known measures like the Global Peace Index and public crime and safety indices. It is meant as quick general guidance to compare destinations at a glance, not a travel advisory or a substitute for official government advice. Conditions can change quickly and vary a lot within a country, so for any real trip you should check your government’s current travel advice for the specific destination before you go.
How often this updates
Exchange rates are live on every visit. Cost and visa datasets are reviewed and refreshed on a roughly monthly cycle, and the month shown in the footer reflects the current review period. Because travel rules and prices move quickly, GlobeDude is designed to get you most of the way to a decision fast, after which you confirm the final details with official and booking sources before you commit.
